Lyrics - Pink - Just like a pill

I'm lyin' here on the floor where you left me
I think I took too much
I'm crying here, what have you done?
I thought it would be fun

I can't stay on your life support, there's a
shortage in the switch,
I can't stay on your morphine, cuz its making me
itch
I said I tried to call the nurse again but shes
being a little *****,
I think I'll get outta here, where I can

Run just as fast as I can
To the middle of nowhere
To the middle of my frustrated fears
And I swear you're just like a pill
Instead of makin' me better, you keep makin' me
ill
You keep makin' me ill

I haven't moved from the spot where you left me
This must be a bad trip
All of the other pills, they were different
Maybe I should get some help

I can't stay on your life support, there's a
shortage in the switch,
I can't stay on your morphine, cuz its making me
itch
I said I tried to call the nurse again but shes
being a little *****,
I think I'll get outta here, where I can

Run just as fast as I can
To the middle of nowhere
To the middle of my frustrated fears
And I swear you're just like a pill
Instead of makin' me better, you keep makin' me
ill
You keep makin' me ill

Run just as fast as I can
To the middle of nowhere
To the middle of my frustrated fears
And I swear you're just like a pill
Instead of makin' me better, you keep makin' me
ill
You keep makin' me ill

I can't stay on your life support, there's a
shortage in the switch,
I can't stay on your morphine, cuz its making me
itch
I said I tried to call the nurse again but shes
being a little *****,
I think I'll get outta here, where I can

Run just as fast as I can
To the middle of nowhere
To the middle of my frustrated fears
And I swear you're just like a pill
Instead of makin' me better, you keep makin' me
ill
You keep makin' me ill (x4)

Treatment Of your Music Video

Group Members: Sarah, Sophie, John, Aneesa

Music Video: We will be recreating the music video for Pink- Just like a pill

Duration: 03:58

Audience

The video will contain language that may not be suitable for very small children. It will mainly appeal to a teenage audience, mainly female (16+). Also it may appeal to people into Rock / Pop Rock.

Resume

For the song “ Just like a pill” The lyrics will be the base for the music video as the lyrics will have references in the music video.

For Example, the first line “I’m lying here..” the performer playing Pinks role will be lying down lip sinking the words.

The Video will have a slight narrative of the performer breaking up with a boyfriend and thinking about him, letting go of their past relationship and accepting the break-up.

The narrative will include scenes of the performer burning a photograph of their ex- partner. It will also include running / walking scenes of the performer walking towards the camera during some parts of the chorus as it fits in with the lyrics. We may use some hand held shaky camera work for some of these scenes. This will have connotation of anger, confusion and frustration which is how the singer is feeling in the song.

We will also have some random scenes which do not fit with the lyrics but will go with the dark and sad theme running through the music video such as…

Key locations

We will be filming in many locations. These include Manchester City centre, Market Street and Loreto College.

(Loreto College scenes)

We will be filming some of the music video in Loreto College. Settings up a small area to look like the performers “home”. We could do this in a staff room or chaplaincy.

(Market Street Scenes)

We will be filming some scenes around Manchester city centre. One key location will include Market Street. They will be mainly mid- shots / close up shots and of them performer walking towards the camera.(Manchester Urbis scenes)

We are going to be filming some shots on Urbis, near the fountain. We will do mostly close-sups and wide shots, of the performer sitting on a bench looking a picture.

Suggested Elements

We many also use the studio to film a performance as it’s a black room. This may include the performer singing into a microphone and we will use green screen to add image such as “fire” in the background.

Costumes

The performer will be wearing mostly black or dark clothing as well as sometimes a pink item E.g. a pink t-shirt. This will symbolize the iconic singers name and form of dress.

Main costumes will include: Skinny jeans, converse, boots, T-shirt, shorts.

Changing of the song

As we filmed today in the studio and looked back at previous footage we filmed in Alexandra park we realised that the song wasn't working to well for us. One group member was struggling to keep up with the lyrics meaning the lip sink was out and another group member couldn't get into the song as much as they would of like. Therefore as a group we have decided to change our song from Professor Green ft Lily Allen - Just be good to green to Pink-Just like a pill. Collectively we decided that changing the song would be the best idea to ensure creating the best quality music video possible.

However, to ensure we do not fall behind to much with the sudden change we we have decided to keep alot of our old locations in the video because they will still work. We are aware that changing the song will give us much more work to do as we must plan and start filming from scratch. But we know together as a group we are capable of doing so as we plan to put in alot of hard work to get it done.

Research

There are many songs that classify as hip-hop, but we decided to look at Written in the stars by Tinie Tempa and Eric Turner. Through most hip-hop videos there are a lot of camera angles throughout to make it stand out. Here are some of the known camera angles we found effective:

EXTREME CLOSE UP-This helps you look at the facial expressions of the performer, and how into the song he really is.

LOW ANGLE SHOT-This is effective because you are able to see the buildings of the city, which makes this a great a location.

WIDE SHOT-This is great because we can see how plain and white the room is and it make the piano and performer stand out.

CLOSE UP- There are a lot of close ups during the video, close ups are always effective because you are able to see the performer.

There were also Mid-shots, High-Angle shots, Panning, Zoom and hand held, that were used throughout the video.

This video is a disjuncture video, our own video will be an amplification video.

As well as the different camera angles there we a lot of cuts to and from the narrative and performance, and as the song gradually came to an end the cutting speed became faster. This made us feel that the song was coming to and end, this is because most hip-hop music videos finished with a big ending with fast cutting.

There were four locations in total in this video, and they were basic, but they still looked effective in the video, the location's were:
As you can see by these screenshots, there is different lighting through out the video, in the White Room and Basketball Court the lighting is high key which makes it look bright and warm, however on the roof and in the corridor, the lighting is low key, which makes it look dingy and eerie.
Where the narrative aspect is concerned, it is bordering more on the amplification narrative, which means that on the some of the verses the narrative does connect to the lyrics; however when it comes to the chorus the video shows the two performers dancing. In all, the balance between narrative and performance is 50/50, there are performances on the chorus but on the versus’ you see more of a narrative side.

In conclusion, our opinion is that the music video has a lot of shots and fast cutting within, which we all feel is a great way to put a music videos together because most songs are fast beat, like this one and so you need a video that matches the beat, and so that it doesn’t seem like its dragging on.

Just be good to green-Lyrics

(Lily Allen) Friends, tell me I am crazy
That I'm wasting time with you
You'll never be mine
Just be good to me
(Professor Green)Ha, Just be good to green
All I need is a woman to be good to me
I'm an easy man, I'm easily pleased
And you provide me with everything that I need
Look you know I make ends I grind
So hold onto yours we're spending mine
Though you try I never let you buy
But If I was broke would you still be spending time?
(Lily Allen) Yes
(Professor Green) And I believe you would
Don't think p's to ****** to treat you good
I walk street with you?
(Lily Allen) Yes
(Professor Green)Talk deep with you
(Lily Allen) Yes
(Professor Green) Even slip and spend all week with you
Then I'm off, you wish I'd put an end to the torment
Stop, but one thing it's not ever is boring
What would you rather me be like?
I ain't ever gonna change are you ever gonna realise?
(Lily Allen) People always talk about
(Professor Green) Look, people are always gonna talk babes,
(Lily Allen) Reputation
(Professor Green) I ain't even gonna lie****, but it ain't like it you don't know what mine is
(Lily Allen) I don't care what you do to them
(Professor Green) Nah
(Lily Allen) Just be good to me
(Professor Green) I'll try, I'll try, I'll try
Look babes, you know who I am
But as crooked as I am
I'll be as good as I can
I try and try though its evident
My angel face is disguise for the devil inside
You're good to me,
I ain't good to girls, ME?
I'm a bad boy something every good girl needs,
Heh honesty could avoid all your tantrums
But I'm a naughty boy and I always have been
What and that ain't changing any time soon
I can't have you with me whenever I move
Whatever I do, I come back to you,
See the good attracts me and the crook attracts you
(Lily Allen) Whatever
(Professor Green) What? We've all got our ways
Remember us talking? Of course it was game
But it's all gone and changed
Now she's got me cutting of links
like I'm trying to shorten my chain

(Lily Allen) People always talk about
(Professor Green) Look, people are always gonna talk babes,
(Lily Allen) Reputation
(Professor Green) I ain't even gonna lie ****, but it ain't like it you don't know what mine is
(Lily Allen) I don't care what you do to them
(Professor Green) Nah
(Lily Allen) Just be good to me
(Professor Green) I'll try, I'll try, I'll try
(Lily Allen) Friends are always telling me
You're a user
(Professor Green) Not me not ever, ain't no other man gonna treat you better
(Lily Allen) I don't care what you do to them
(Professor Green) Nah
(Lily Allen) Just be good to me
(Professor Green) I'll try, I'll try, I'll try
(Lily Allen) I'll be good to you
You'll be good to me
We can be together, be together
Good to you
You'll be good to me
We can be together be together
Just be good to me

Treatment of your music video

Group Members : Sarah, Sophie, John, Aneesa

Music Video: We will be recreating the music video for Professor Green ft Lily Allen – Just be good to green.

Duration: 03:25

Audience

The video will contain language that may not be suitable for very small children. It will mainly appeal to a teenage audience, both male and female. Also it may appeal to people into hip-hop / rap

Resume

We are giving the video a narrative, which includes members of our group acting it out as the singers Professor Green and Lily Allen. The narrative is based on the lyrics which we interpreted as an argument based on a rocky relationship between the two.

The narrative will include scenes of the couple together and then arguing, one scene in particular will be of the couple in a coffee shop and the person acting as Lily Allen will storm out of the coffee shop and walk down the street. This will include various shots such as Close-Ups, Tracking Shot and Mid –Shots. There will be shots of “Lily Allen” and “Professor Green “On the phone to one another, walking towards and through a park.

We will need to ask permission from a coffee shop nearby preferably with sofas, if we can film some of the music video there.

Key locations

We will be filming in many locations. These include, Alexandra Park, Manchester City centre, Market Street, Loreto College, Coffee Shop.

(Alexandra Park – Tilt shot)

We will need a third performer, someone who will play a girl that is distracting “Professor Green” to show his lack of commitment within the relationship. The shots will include a Tilt – shot of the girl and Close Up shots of “Professor Green”.

We will also be filming some other scenes in the park of the couple sat together on a bench and walking down the park.

(Loreto College scenes)

We will be filming some of the music video in Loreto College. Settings up a small area to look like their “home”. We could do this in a staff room or chaplaincy.

(Market Street Scenes)

We will be filming some scenes around Manchester city centre. One key location will include Market Street. They will be mainly Two –Shots and of the two main performers walking together.

Manchester Piccadilly Gardens

Manchester Triangle

Suggested Elements: Our music video will also include a performance, which will be a Two- Shot. This can be done in black or white room with high key lighting. Or we could film it in front of a green screen; this will enable us to add patterns or specific locations such as city towers in the background.

Two -Shot Performance

Costumes:

The performer playing the role of Lily Allen will be wearing casual clothing in some scenes and will also be wearing smart clothing, skirt and t-shirt, tights. For the performance element of the music video they will be wearing much more feminine “glam” clothing, dress.

The performer playing the role of Professor Green will also wearing casual clothing in some scenes, jeans, t-shirt, hooded top and trainers. In the performance element of the music video he will be wearing more formal wear, including a t-shirt and jacket, jeans.
